You know that you can use the character map in the Accessories menu to insert various characters in your documents – but did you know that you can create your own characters? Here’s how:

Click Start | Run
Type eudcedit
In the Private Character Editor, select a random code location (for example, E000/0) and click OK.
Now in the grid, draw your character using the tools on the left side.
Click Edit | Save Character
Now, to use your special character:
Click Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Character Map
In the Font box, scroll down and select All Fonts (Private Characters)
Select your font and click Copy.
In the document where you want to place the special character, just click Paste or CTRL + V to place the character in the document. Note that these instructions also work in Vista.
